Who doesn't know the smell of roasted almonds that makes every Christmas market unmistakable. It's as if this smell brings back all the memories of the festive season and our wonderful Christmases as children.
Even as a child, I loved roasted almonds. Unfortunately, I haven't eaten any for a long time as the traditional roasted nuts from the Christmas market have simply become too sweet for me. The thought that I can now share a recipe without the addition of refined sugar makes me really happy. It's always nice to discover that traditional recipes can still taste delicious in a healthier version.
The roasted almonds are super quick to make and the gingerbread spice gives them a very special flavour.
Ingredients for 200g
1 tbsp coconut oil
1-2 tbsp date syrup
1 tsp gingerbread spice
200g almonds
Preparation
Melt the coconut oil with the date syrup and gingerbread spice in a saucepan or frying pan.
Add the almonds and allow to caramelise, stirring constantly.
Remove the almonds and leave to cool completely on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
The roasted almonds are also great for sachets in Advent calendars. Simply fill them into airtight jam jars or small biscuit tins. They are also great as a snack between meals to bring the Christmas market into your home!
I wish you bon appétit and a wonderful pre-Christmas season full of delicious treats.
