ABOUT MARIEKS
EMPOWER YOUR MIND, FUEL YOUR LIFE
First of all, a very warm welcome! I'm Marieke and I'm delighted that you share my love of cooking and that you've landed on my blog.
My blog is here to share my favourite recipes with you, to invite you into my world of indulgence and to introduce you to my passion for cooking. My cooking consists only of natural, home-made ingredients with which I can and want to do something good for my body. Nowadays, there are many diets, the best-known being vegetarianism and veganism. You won't find any specific restrictions on my blog, but my dishes are still mostly vegetarian or vegan. This is not because I restrict myself in my diet, but because natural, healthy foods are usually vegetarian or vegan by nature. Nevertheless, I am happy to have a piece of organic fish or meat on my plate from time to time. However, this now happens very rarely.
In my blog, I will be focussing on recipes that are nutritious, healthy and, above all, delicious. I didn't learn to cook professionally myself, I'm not a nutritionist or - as they say - not a professional. However, I grew up in a household where food plays a major role, and later on, healthy eating in particular. My knowledge of nutrient-rich food comes mainly from my mum, who is a doctor specialising in nutritional medicine, from books and specialist articles. My information on this blog is therefore mostly based on practices and experiences that have helped me feel better in my life.
Admittedly, I didn't even know how to bake pancakes until I was eighteen. After leaving school, I stayed at home for a while and actually just wanted to compile my mum's recipes in a cookery book so that I wouldn't be completely lost in my first flat, living all by myself. However, this turned out to be more difficult than expected as my mum, like so many others, doesn't usually stick to recipes but to her "gut feeling". So, there I was, with instructions to "season by feel", which really didn't help me to write down recipes. In a way, I was forced to cook all of my mum's recipes with her in advance to hopefully get that "feeling" myself. I quickly realised how much fun, peace and enjoyment cooking brings and started making my own variations and creations. Today I'm 24 and regularly cook for friends and family, but also for myself every day. For me, cooking is not just a pleasure, but a way to find myself, to calm down and to share my passion. Cooking fills me with a sense of fulfillment and vitality like no other activity can. I'm here to extend that feeling to you.
